Cheaper mortgages depress inflation

Cheaper mortgage loans in February helped depress the inflation rate to 3.1%. The underlying rate, excluding mortgage interest payments, was unchanged at 3.0%. It is the fifth month in succession that it has been above the 2.5% Treasury target.
