Recognition successes in the north

Humber marine pilots, employed by Associated British Ports (ABP), have voted overwhelmingly in favour of recognition for two unions — Unite and Nautilus International.

Eighty-seven (87) workers, or 91.6% of those voting, voted to support the proposal that the unions be recognised for the purposes of collective bargaining with the ABP. Just eight workers voted to reject the proposal.

The GMB general union has won recognition to represent all forklift truck drivers/hourly paid employees and shift supervisors employed at the Cumbrian depot of Princes Foods.

The proportion of workers constituting the bargaining unit who supported the proposal was 57.9%.
