UNISON recruitment campaign

A series of TV adverts is one of a wide range of measures being put in place by public services union UNISON in a major recruitment and organising drive launched last month.

The campaign also involves adverts in the national, regional and trade press, as well as online and digital activity to back up practical recruitment on the part of officials and activists across the country.

The theme of the advertising is that the union provides “essential cover” at a time when “public services are under unprecedented attack from government”, according to general secretary Dave Prentis.

The campaign involves dedicated helpline numbers for people ringing in to join up, providing the union with a sophisticated method for evaluating the response rate.
