24/7 helpline

Shopworkers’ union Usdaw is to launch an out-of-hours helpline so members can get advice 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

General secretary John Hannett told his union’s annual delegate meeting: “We know that our members work all sorts of hours. Nights, late evenings and weekend working is the norm for many.

“Problems at work can and do happen at any time of the day or night and on any day of the week.“

While the level of advice available will be limited, he said, the union would be “putting a service in place to signpost members towards the help that they need”.
