CWU negotiates upgraded footwear

Unions in Royal Mail have negotiated better footwear after a wave of slips and trips by postal workers. Last year safety reps reported a significant number of accidents, including over 3-day sick leave accidents, linked to the “Magnum Hi-Tec” footwear.

After a campaign by the CWU communication workers’ union, Royal Mail has began phasing in new shoes to improve slip resistance on wet, frosted and steel surfaces with some offices acting as pilot sites.
