ETUI criticises EC’s deregulation agenda

The European Commission’s Better Regulation programme promises to save businesses 40 billion euros by slashing “red tape”, particularly laws arising from health and safety directives. But a new report published by the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), Better regulation: a critical assessment, pinpoints flaws in the method used to reach this figure. It also says that the Commission is being unduly influenced by a group of “Better Regulation experts” with close ties to business. Details of the report can be found at http://hesa.etui-rehs.org/uk/publications/pub49.htm
