Certification Officer appointed

David Cockburn, a leading employment lawyer, has been appointed to the role of Certification Officer - the government-appointed official responsible for handling complaints against trade unions and for certifying union independence. Cockburn has specialised in employment law for more than 30 years and has worked for a number of unions providing advice and taking cases on their behalf.
