Union growth forces Adecco to table

Growing membership of the CWU communications union at an Adecco call centre in the North West has led management to agree to a meeting to discuss union recognition. The call centre carries out work sub-contracted by Virgin Media (VM).

According to the union, there has been an effective pay freeze there for the past six years and no uniformity over pay and conditions. This has contributed to a “substantial” increase in membership at Adecco over the past 18 months.

Recruitment has also been helped by the growing number of CWU reps active in the call centre, and leafleting by activists and field organisers.
