New chemical formula

Unions and employers have agreed a 3.2% to 3.8% increase from 1 May for the 50,000 workers in the Austria’s chemical industry.

The basic rates in the agreement rise by 3.3%, while the rates paid in the workplace, which are often higher than the basic rates must go up by at least 3.2%. Both basic rates and rates paid are subject to a minimum increase of €63 per month — equivalent to a 3.8% increase for the lowest paid. Inflation in Austria is currently 2.3% (March).

€1 was worth 85p on 15 May.
