Belgian agreement stresses need to consult on Covid

Belgium has been one of the European countries hardest hit by the virus, and an agreement for the metalworking and technology sector, signed on 11 May by the employers and the unions from all three Belgian union confederations, emphasises that health and welfare must have “absolute priority”. It states that employee representatives must be involved in discussions covering workers’ health, employer-organised transport, arrangements for taking temperatures and the use of masks. There should be regular meetings with the works council, health and safety committee and union delegation, as appropriate.
