Labour Bill condemned

Greece’s main union confederation, GSEE, has condemned new proposed employment legislation and called for it to be withdrawn.

The measure, which aims to make Greece’s labour laws more flexible and reduce regulation, includes provisions making it easier to vary daily working hours up to a maximum of 13 hours a day.

Angry that unions had not been involved in consultations on the proposal, Yannis Panagopoulos, the GSEE’s general secretary, called it a “cynical intervention on behalf of very specific employers”.
