Tax relief loss on contributions
In a further attack on unions in Finland, the right wing government has announced that union members will no longer be able to claim tax relief on their union contributions.
Jarkko Eloranta, the head of SAK, the largest union confederation in Finland, said the plan could weaken union organisation and unions’ ability to win wage rises for their members.
Speaking on 1 May, he called the government a “pure-blooded business lobby” interested only in “corporate interests and crony capitalism”.
