Making changes (amendments) to the claim

As previously stated, It is important to make sure that the ET1 Claim Form refers to all the claims a claimant wants to bring. Judges have a discretion whether to allow parties to make changes to their claim once it has been issued, and tribunals are increasingly resistant to requests to make changes, especially as the hearing date approaches (see, for example, Patka v British Broadcasting Corporation & Anor [2018] UKEAT/0190/17).

Even if a change is allowed, the judge can order the party asking for the change to pay the legal costs of the other party, linked to the change.
