Health and Safety Law 2023 (November 2023)

Chapter 8

Stress, bullying, harassment and violence

[page 127]

This chapter explains how the law applies to mental health and issues stemming from interpersonal relationships at work – sometimes known as psychosocial hazards. It lays out the guidance, laws and rights that safety reps need to know about in order to tackle stress, bullying, harassment and violence. It examines mental health and discrimination, bullying and harassment, including sexual harassment, and the law and protections covering these issues. Finally, it covers violence: sector-specific protections; employer liability; compensation for criminal injuries; and dangerous dogs.
