Right to be accompanied

The employee does not have a statutory right to be accompanied by a union rep or workplace companion in an investigation meeting, only once a disciplinary hearing is held (see page 27). However, there may be a workplace agreement that allows this. In any event, this does not prevent the employee from asking to be accompanied.

Being accompanied may be a reasonable adjustment for a disabled employee, and it may be necessary if there are any language barriers.
