Union leaderships

Rob Monks has been re-elected unopposed as general secretary of the United Road Transport Union (URTU). It will be his fifth term of office.

Meanwhile, the TSSA transport union has begun an election for general secretary in a ballot required as a result of the union’s merger with the US-based Boilermakers union. Nominations close on 9 November and voting runs from 17 November to 14 December.

And Geoff Barton, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, has announced he is to stand down from his role in April 2024, three years earlier than planned. By that time, he will have been in post for seven years.
