Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
Protection was strengthened by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which created a statutory definition of domestic abuse. UNISON successfully secured a joint amendment during the passage of the legislation to ensure that Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs) extend to the workplace. This means it will be unlawful for a perpetrator to go near a victim or survivor on her way to work or while at work. Under the previous government, DAPOs were set to be piloted in a select number of police force areas in 2024 to assess the effectiveness and impact of the new model prior to national roll out.
