In Cook v Bradford Community Health NHs Trust, CA, 23 October 2002 [2002], a case where a nurse was assaulted by a patient, the Court of Appeal made clear that employers have a duty not to place staff unnecessarily in a position where there is a risk of foreseeable danger — in this case one of violence.
