Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
The HSE explains that ionising radiations occurs as either electromagnetic rays, such as X-rays and gamma rays, or particles, such as alpha and beta particles. They are typically used in medical exposures, industrial radiography equipment, and gauges used in industry for process control. Ionising radiation can cause dermatitis, burns, cell damage, cataracts, and changes to the blood.
