The three companies had employed the claimant at different times over the course of his working life since 1985. The Control of Vibration Regulations 2005 came into effect in July of that year. Bowe alleged the companies had each breached their duty of care to protect him from injury. The defendants admitted they had a duty of care but denied claims that he had been exposed to frequent or prolonged exposure to vibrating tools.
