Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
In some workplaces the employer requires employees to dress in a particular way and these dress codes can cause health and safety problems. A report by the Parliamentary Petitions Committee and Women and Equalities Committee into high heels and workplace dress codes in 2017 concluded that “the evidence leaves the Committees in no doubt that dress codes which require women to wear high heels for extended periods of time are damaging to their health and wellbeing in both the short and the long term”.
