There has been a rise in the number of economically inactive people reporting MSDs connected with their back or neck, according to Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures published in 2022. They rose by 62,000 (31%). The ONS says it is possible that increased homeworking since the Covid pandemic has given rise to these kinds of chronic conditions.
