Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
In its 2023-24 work programme, the HSE deprioritised 12 harmful substances for which the EU has either adopted or initiated a restriction. And few of the actions identified for regulatory priority in 2022-23 were delivered. For example, although it did publish a Regulatory Management Options Analysis (RMOA) on Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) (known as “forever chemicals”) promised for 2022-23, restrictions have not yet been initiated. Better regulation on PFAS is already in force in Europe.
