Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
Two hundred and forty electricians were sacked en masse by construction firm Balfour Kilpatrick (part of Balfour Beatty). They were working on an extremely damp and marshy site in continuous heavy rain and cold with no drying facilities. Safety boots, overalls and high-vis jackets were all permanently damp. Their concerns were rejected out of hand by management, so they walked off the site. They stayed away for three days.
