Health and Safety Law 2024 (October 2024)
In 2014-15, the last full year without the Sentencing Council guidelines in place, the single largest health and safety fine was £525,000 and five cases were at or above £500,000. The average level of fine was £27,000 per conviction in 2014-15. The last HSE Enforcement statistics in Great Britain, 2021 report (see below) showed seven cases received fines of £1 million or more and the average level of fine rose to £145,000 from £107,000 the previous year.
