HSE inspectors and local authority environmental health officers enforce health and safety standards in most workplaces. Other safety regulators are responsible for enforcing standards in particular sectors, such as the aviation, maritime, railway and nuclear industries, and on the roads (see Enforcement: Chapter 3).
