A key judgement on “bogus” self-employment is that of the Supreme Court in Uber v Aslam [2021] ICR 657 which unions hailed as historic. The judges said Uber drivers are not self-employed; they are workers entitled to rights including holiday pay, a guaranteed minimum wage, and an entitlement to breaks.
