The NEU teaching union supported a teacher who was forced to express breastmilk in the toilets and car park. She was found by a tribunal in 2022 to have been harassed by her employer on the basis of her sex. In Mellor v The MFG Academies Trust: 1802133/2021, the tribunal concluded that it was unwanted conduct to force her to express milk in the toilet and/or car park and that the conduct had the effect of creating a degrading or humiliating environment for the claimant.
