Who pays for adjustments?
[ch 5: page 28]An employer cannot require the disabled worker to pay the cost of making adjustments (section 20(7) EA 10).
Where changes cost more than an employer can reasonably be expected to pay, there is help via the government’s Access to Work scheme, which workers can contact themselves. Through this scheme, workers can apply for:
• a grant to help pay for practical support with their work;
• support with managing their mental health at work; and
• money to pay for communication support at job interviews.
• Support includes up to nine months of mental health support from the Access to Work Mental Health Support Service.
