Another general strike in Belgium

Belgium’s two main union confederations, CSC/ACV and FGTB/ABVV, called for further strike action last month following extensive support for the general strike they organised on 31 March.

The date of 29 April had already been chosen for a public transport strike, providing a base for the wider action.

Thierry Bodson, president of the FGTB/ABVV says that it is becoming easier to win support as the government’s plans, which include no real pay increase and longer working time, become clearer.
