9. Termination of the employment contract

This chapter outlines the different ways in which an employment contract can come to an end, including notice requirements.

Either party can terminate a contract of employment, which can happen in the following ways:

• dismissal by the employer (with or without notice);

• resignation by the employee (with or without notice);

• constructive dismissal (where the employee resigns in response to a breach of contract);

• by agreement;

• through frustration of contract.
