Equipment breakdown

If equipment breaks down so that homeworkers can no longer work, they should immediately contact their line manager.

As explained above, legal responsibility for keeping “work equipment” in “efficient working order and in good repair” rests with the employer under PUWER.

It may be helpful to negotiate a collective agreement over pay and working hours for workers required to work from home whose equipment breaks down.
