Claims against bodies other than employers

Claims of discrimination can be taken against bodies other than employers. Partnerships, trade unions, qualifying bodies, vocational training bodies, employment agencies and statutory bodies are all covered under the legislation. In Michalak v The General Medical Council & Others [2017] UKSC 71, the Supreme Court confirmed that discrimination claims can be brought in the employment tribunal against regulatory bodies such as the GMC.
