Working safely with COVID-19 - a guide for workplace reps (February 2021)

Chapter 3

3. COVID-19 risk assessments

[ch 3: page 15]

In January 2021, with new strains of coronavirus “spreading like wildfire”, TUC general secretary Frances O’Grady called on employers to “redo their risk assessments now, and make sure all workers and customers are following the rules to keep everyone safe”.

That same month, Wales TUC welcomed news that stronger COVID legislation in response to the “highly contagious new strain of the virus” would require businesses in Wales to carry out a specific coronavirus risk assessment. They will have to consider issues including whether ventilation is adequate; hygiene; physical distancing; the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and face coverings; and how they maximise the number of people who can work from home.
