‘Biggest ever’ agreement

Shop workers’ union Usdaw has signed an updated partnership agreement with supermarket giant Tesco, which the union says “provides for wider levels of consultation on all aspects of the employment relationship”.

Usdaw says the agreement is the largest private sector collective bargaining agreement in the UK. The new version provides additional facilities for union reps to carry out their roles in Tesco – contrasting with the campaign pledge made by prime ministerial hopeful Liz Truss to abolish facility time in the public sector.

Usdaw national officer Daniel Adams said the agreement “recognises the tireless work of our reps up and down the country supporting members and the work they do to make Tesco a better place to work for employees and continues the company’s commitment in recognising their contribution”.
