Age discrimination legislation — The Equality Act 2010

The Equality Act 2010 (EA 2010) largely came into force on 1 October 2010 consolidating and enhancing UK anti-discrimination law in a single piece of legislation. It introduced new harmonised definitions of discrimination that apply to nine protected characteristics. Age is one of these protected characteristics, along with disability, gender reassignment, marital/civil partnership status, race, religion/belief, gender, sexual orientation and pregnancy/maternity.
