Jobseeker’s Allowance

Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) was the main benefit available to those who are unemployed or working only part-time and seeking work but UC is gradually replacing JSA along with other benefits and tax credits (see Chapter 1).

You can now only apply for contribution-based and income-based JSA if you either get severe disability premium or you got it within the last month and are still eligible for it.

If not, you can only apply for “new-style” JSA.
