Chapter 15

Victimisation

[ch 15: page 86]

A refusal to give a reference can be unlawful victimisation. For example, the refusal of a reference request because the worker has issued a grievance alleging discrimination would be victimisation. The amount of time that has passed between lodging the grievance and requesting the reference is irrelevant. All that matters is that the reference request was refused at least in part because of the grievance.
