Case law at work - 9th edition (January 2013)

Chapter 1

1. THE EMPLOYMENT LAW SYSTEM

Tribunal claims must be brought within specified time limits. In most cases this is three months from the date of the act complained of, or the date of dismissal, but a claimant should always check the time limit in the relevant legislation. If a claim is submitted late without good reason, a tribunal will not be entitled to hear it. However, it does have discretion to extend the time limit if certain conditions are met. The time limit for bringing an appeal is 42 days from the date of the tribunal’s judgment.
