Tackling bullying and harassment at work - a guide for union reps and workers (February 2019)

Chapter 6

What sort of policy?

[ch 6: page 58]

There are different ways of developing policies on bullying and harassment. Some employers and unions have negotiated bullying and/or harassment policies as part of the health and safety policy, while in other cases they have negotiated stand-alone bullying and harassment policies, or dignity or respect at work policies.

The type of policy you negotiate may depend on what is most practical in your circumstances, including building on what has been successfully negotiated in the past. The key aim should be to create a working environment where there is dignity and respect and zero tolerance of harassment and bullying.
