The public sector equality duty in Northern Ireland

[ch 19: page 135]

The equivalent legislation in Northern Ireland is section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. This requires public authorities to mainstream equality considerations when making decisions about public services. In Northern Ireland, the groups whose needs must be considered include those with and without dependants and those with different religious and political opinions. There is more detailed information on the website of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
