Workplace pensions - a guide for trade union reps (July 2014)

Chapter 3

Regulating public sector pensions

[ch 3: page 30]

The public sector has a new regulatory regime to go with the new schemes. The Public Sector Pensions Act 2013 extended and defined the Pensions Regulator’s role in relation to public service schemes by amending the Pensions Act 2004. It also defined aspects of new governance arrangements for these schemes (see page 84).

A draft Code of Practice 14, draft regulatory strategy, and consultation documents (December 2013) describe the Regulator’s role in relation to the new schemes and their administration.
