Weekly rest

Adult workers are entitled to an uninterrupted rest period of at least 24 hours in each seven-day period (regulation 11, WTR). The employer can decide whether this is taken as two uninterrupted periods of at least 24 hours, or one uninterrupted rest period of at least 48 hours in each 14-day period (regulation 11(2), WTR). Young workers are entitled to at least 48 hours in each seven-day period (regulation 11(3). WTR).

Adult workers’ daily and weekly rest periods can be averaged over two weeks.
