Leave and pay for working parents - a guide for trade union reps (October 2014)

Pay

[ch 5: page 42]

There is no statutory right to payment for taking time off for emergencies but this can be negotiated with employers. Examples from the LRD Payline database of workplace agreements include an agreement between Edinburgh City Council and public services union UNISON where up to five days paid leave for unexpected emergencies is available in any 12-month period as well as any other reasonable unpaid leave.
