State support and coronavirus - a trade union guide (June 2020)

Chapter 3

Commitments linked to New Style ESA

[ch 3: pages 23-24]

If you are placed in the Work-Related Activity Group, you would normally be required to attend regular interviews with an advisor. And if you refuse to take part in these interviews, your ESA could be reduced for up to four weeks after you restart the interviews. However, all face-to-face interviews have been temporarily suspended until at least 19 June 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

If you are placed in the Support Group because your illness or disability has a severe effect on your ability to work, you will not be expected to attend interviews, but you can speak to a personal adviser if you wish to.
