Fostering to adopt — new rights

The Children and Families Act 2104 has introduced new rights to leave and pay for those fostering to adopt from 5 April 2014 provided that they:

• are a local authority foster parent;

• have been approved as a prospective adopter;

• have been notified by a local authority in England that a child is to be, or is expected to be, placed with the employee under section 22C of the Children Act 1989.
