2. The legal backdrop
[ch 2: page 10]The main general legislation in England, Scotland and Wales that protects people from race discrimination and provides for race equality is the Equality Act 2010 (EA 10). It covers all employers, irrespective of size. Northern Ireland has separate legislation.
There is an associated statutory code of practice covering the work-related aspects of the EA 10, which provides great detail on what must be done to comply with it. The Employment statutory code of practice is published by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
