Redundancy during shared parental leave

Those who are made redundant during shared parental leave are entitled to the same protection offered to those who are made redundant during their maternity leave. Where there is suitable alternative vacancy, the employee is entitled to be offered the vacancy before the end of their employment. The new role should be suitable and appropriate for the employee on shared parental leave and the terms and conditions must not be substantially worse compared to the employee’s original role.
