Adoption appointments
[ch 4: page 39]Prospective adoptive parents will be required to attend meetings with social workers and other agencies in relation to the adoption, and an adoption leave agreement should make provision for this.
From 5 April 2015, new changes to the law mean that those who have been notified by their adoption agency that a child is due to be, or expected to be, placed with them for adoption, are entitled to paid time off. This is for up to five adoption appointments for the main adopter and up to two appointments for the secondary adopter. This is so that they can attend an adoption appointment during working hours for any reason connected with the adoption.
The LRD Payline database of workplace agreements has details of a prescriptive adoption appointment policy from Angus Council which details the various phases of adoption described as exploratory, training, assessment, matching and placement phases, together with details of the amount of paid time off available at each phase.
