Women's health and safety at work - a guide for union reps (September 2018)

Chapter 3

3. Stress and mental health, bullying, harassment and violence

[ch 3: page 22]

Women are generally at a higher risk of psychosocial hazards including bullying, violence and harassment (including sexual harassment), and risks that can cause work-related stress. This is because of the type of work they do and societal roles and social structures, according to the International Labour Organisation publication, 10 keys for gender sensitive OSH practice — guidelines for gender mainstreaming in occupational safety and health.

It says women entering traditionally male occupations and sectors are among those at particular risk of sexual harassment and discrimination.
